Salvation – Arranged by the Father – Part 1

Ephesians 1:4

While in many ways the doctrine of election is difficult to understand, in the end it is meant to bring comfort and assurance and to lead us to worship. Sadly, because of misunderstandings about election, it often results in confusion and doubt. In this first sermon on election, we see: 1) that the one who elects is none other than “God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” – a title that reminds us we are elected to a relationship with the heavenly Father; 2) that he elects “the saints” – not everybody and; 3) that the basis of his election is Christ and his work (“he chose us in Him”). Along the way we see how this doctrine leads the saints to humility and that it does not somehow make God unjust.
