The words “But God” in Ephesians 2 take us right to the heart of the gospel. We were dead, disobedient and doomed, but God intervened at the point of our desperate need. This sermon looks first at God’s great work of salvation. How he made us alive with Christ, raised us with Christ and seated us with Christ. We then consider his motivation – love, mercy, grace and kindness. All characteristics in Him and not is us. Finally we look at his goal – that the immeasurable riches of his grace might be know through all the ages to come. His goal is his glory – and hence our good.
