Pastor Roberts grew up just outside Detroit, Michigan in the city of Livonia. He was one of seven children. In 1974, at the age of 16, he became a believer in Jesus Christ while on a 3-week vacation with many of his friends.
Pastor Jim graduated from high school in 1976, and in 1982 he graduated with a degree in Christian Education and Religion from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana – a city half the size of Clinton.
Upon graduation he worked as a youth director in churches in Plymouth, MI; Livonia, MI; and Miami, FL. It is in Miami where he met and married his lovely and gifted wife, Robin.
In 1993, Jim, Robin and 1-year old Andrew moved to Columbia, SC where Jim attended Columbia Biblical Seminary and interned at Lexington Presbyterian Church. Upon his graduation in May of 1996 he then accepted the call of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Huntsville, AL, to become their Family Life Pastor.
Nine and 1/2 years later he moved his family, which then included daughter Sarah to Clinton to become the pastor here at Westminster, Clinton.
In addition to his work as pastor, he serves on the boards of Bailey Manor, The Y and 1 John 3 Ministries.
As it comes to hobbies, Pastor Roberts loves to golf but rarely gets to do it; is a decent racquetball player, ran his first 5K at the age of 50, and has been on nearly 60 missions trips around the world.
His loves include both Mexican and Seafood, but more importantly he loves his Lord, his church and his family.
